Adding Value to the Mathematics and Science Partnership Evaluations

Meyer, R.H. (1996). Value-added indicators of school performance. In Eric A. Hanushek, and Dale W. Jorgenson, (Eds.), Improving America’s schools: The role of incentives. Washington, DC: National Academy Press, pp.197-223. 

This chapter considers the attributes of an “acceptable, valid performance indicator system” to be used when examining school effects on student achievement.  A value added model of growth in student achievement is presented, explaining the basic logic of a value added model.
